The closing ceremony of the Computer Science Exploration Camp 2012 has ended successfully on June 29, 2012. This activity was organized by Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau, and sponsored by Science and Technology Development Fund of Macao SAR. There were more than twenty students who come from thirteen different high schools, have participated this four-day program. The topics include computer animation, 3D model design and production, machine translation, and computer system design and implementation.
This summer camp program provides the students an opportunity to work in the university’s laboratories, study the contemporary knowledge, learn the way of collaboration and experience the academic atmosphere in the campus. In computer animation workshop, students had demonstrated their creativity in designing and producing their own 3D objects. Through the realization of simple translation systems in machine translation workshop, students had obtained a better comprehension in the internal syntactic structures between languages. In the computer system design and implementation workshop, they worked together in developing a variety of applications, such as an automatic traffic light control system and an intelligent Macau Light Rail Transit scheduling system.
With this four-day summer camp program, students have not only gained a better understanding on the computer science technologies, but also be able to design and implement the prototyping models using the knowledge and tools they learned. This activity also inspires students to pursue their future development.
